Subcommittee Descriptions
Employment Subcommittee
The Employment Subcommittee's purpose is to address issues that are unique to employment dispute resolution. This subcommittee monitors developments in employment litigation and promotes alternative dispute resolution forms both before and during the formal litigation process and facilitates the exchange of ideas concerning the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in resolving employer-employee disputes. The Committee also follows the development of the law related to employer imposed mandatory ADR programs.
International Subcommittee
The International Subcommittee focuses on issues that arise in the use of international arbitration, mediation and other ADR procedures to resolve disputes between parties from two or more different countries and oftentimes involving parties from different legal regimes and linguistical and cultural backgrounds. This subcommittee addresses issues that are unique to the international dispute resolution arena, including the interpretation and enforcement of arbitration clauses in international agreements and the enforceability of awards and judgments issued by foreign arbitral tribunals and courts.
Mediation Subcommittee
The Mediation Subcommittee's objective is to facilitate the dissemination of information concerning mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism. This subcommittee monitors evolving trends in the use of mediation for conflict resolution and is designed to provide a forum for development of ways to advance the interests of clients through the use of mediation.
Publications Subcommittee
The Publications subcommittee of the ADR Committee publishes Conflict Management to report developments and trends in dispute resolution of interest to litigators, and to educate litigators in evaluating and effectively using arbitration, mediation and other ADR techniques. Submissions of articles, case notes, etc. are welcome.
Website Subcommittee
The Website Subcommittee has as its central purpose the administration of the ADR Website. We currently are working to enhance its quality and utillity to ADR Committee members. The Website itself includes information regarding the other subcommittes, past articles from Conflict Management, and useful hypertext links to other websites. The goal of the Website Subcommittee is to be the central respository for information about the ADR Subcommittee.
