Regulatory Scheme: Kansas Rule of Professional Conduct 7.4 does not specifically address communications of specialization or board certification. It does, however, state that a "lawyer may communicate the fact that the lawyer does or does not practice in particular fields of law" [Rule 7.4]. The commentary suggests that the rule would be amended in the event that the Kansas Supreme Court adopts "provisions pertaining to designation of specialization." The Court is considering proposed changes that include a new Rule 7.4 that would recognize ABA Accreditation of certifying organizations.
