This manual was designed to inspire and assist business lawyers to replicate the success of probono business entities highlighted in the manual in their own states or locales. The ABC Project ("A Business Commitment"--a project of the ABA Section of Business Law Pro Bono Committee) has now made it easier to locate pro bono business entities by providing the ABC Manual Directory Online.

Beyond the Myths: Get the Facts about Dispute Resolution is a new brochure published by the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Pro Bono Committee that identifies the most common myths and barriers to the use of mediation for low income disputants The brochure addresses nine common myths or misconceptions held by legal services and pro bono practitioners. The subjects addressed range from issues such as whether mediation is a fair means of dispute resolution for low income disputants, including those with domestic violence issues, to the ability to enforce mediation agreements.

The California Handbook for Disaster Legal Services is a publication of the State Bar of California, Office of Legal Services, Foundation of the State Bar. The Handbook is a compilation of the collective experience and wisdom gained from those in the legal services community who have been actively involved in disaster response since the Loma Prieta earthquake in October 1989. It is a very comprehensive resource but by no means an exhaustive review of disaster legal services.

Pro Bono Delivery and Support: A Directory of Statewide Models is a listing of statewide pro bono support, Access to Justice and direct pro bono delivery pro bono programs. The directory includes contact information, as well as descriptions of specific activities in each state that promote pro bono activity on a statewide or regional basis.

Pro Bono Project Development: A Deskbook for Government and Public Sector Lawyers is a joint project of the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division and the Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service to: (1) encourage greater government attorney participation in pro bono, and (2) assist government offices and pro bono programs to create effective policies and projects. The manual guides managing government attorneys, pro bono practitioners, and project coordinators through the issues that impact a government attorney pro bono project. The manual also includes many examples of federal, state, and local policies and procedures that will provide the foundation for successful projects.

Rural Pro Bono Delivery: A Guide to Pro Bono Legal Services in Rural Areas is designed as a resource for legal services providers, bar associations and volunteer lawyer programs looking for ways to serve clients in rural areas and strengthen the support system for the advocates who help rural clients. Senior Lawyers Organizing & Volunteering: A National Profile is a joint publication of the ABA Senior Lawyers Division and the Center for Pro Bono includes information on topics such as organizing at the state and local level, developing pro bono projects, emeritus attorney rules, reduction or waiver of bar fees and dues, and much more.

Standards for Programs Providing Civil Pro Bono Legal Services to Persons of Limited Means.
The Pro Bono Standards were the product of four years of work by the Standing Committee on Lawyers' Public Service Responsibility (SCLPSR). We believe that they will be extremely useful in guiding new pro bono programs and in improving and evaluating existing programs so that these programs can effectively and efficiently facilitate the provision of high quality legal services to persons of limited means.
