The South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program is a private, statewide referral agency. The program is funded by the South Carolina Bar Foundation, as well as by donations from lawyers. In an effort to provide access to justice for all, the South Carolina Bar encourages its members to participate in the Pro Bono Program to provide free legal services to the low income community. Program volunteers represent clients, provide counsel and advice, conduct free legal clinics, and participate in a myriad of other activities to help low income people concerning legal matters. The Pro Bono Program accepts civil cases which are non-fee-generating.
