The Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) is a non-profit organization, created as a joint project of the Maine Bar Foundation and Pine Tree Legal Assistance and supported by attorneys throughout the state. The VLP provides legal assistance and information to low-income people in most civil matters. Approximately 1,650 attorneys throughout the state donate their time through the VLP to serve eligible clients. The project refers clients to lawyers, provides information and self-help materials and, when appropriate, guides clients to other resources or agencies.
