Designed for law school pro bono program advisors, coordinators, directors, assistant and associate deans, this program will take a close look at the development of law school pro bono including cutting-edge programs and activities. Several interactive workshops will explore the unique aspects of operating and expanding a law school pro bono program including their role within the law school and the public interest community, discussion of techniques for creating placements and quality supervision, building effective and long-term relationships with providers, and cultivating future access to justice leaders.
Law School Pro Bono TodayThis program will take a close look at the history of law school pro bono, the evolution of the law school pro bono professional as a permanent fixture within the law school, the development of cutting-edge pro bono programs and public interest activities and the findings and impact of the Equal Justice Works Consumer Guide.

The Role of the Pro Bono Professional Inside the Law School
This interactive workshop will explore common issues faced by law school pro bono professionals including how to recruit, retain, and recognize students; how to ensure on-going faculty and administrative support and involvement; and how to cultivate future access to justice leaders.

Laying the Groundwork for Long-Term Partnerships, Creative Placements and Quality Supervision
This interactive workshop will explore how to build effective and long-term relationships in the public interest community and with the private bar. Participants will examine strategies for locating innovative and meaningful pro bono opportunities and will discuss various approaches to ensure quality supervision, including providing guidelines for students and supervisors, maintaining record-keeping procedures, conducting site visits, and implementing an evaluation process.
