Description of Program
The University of La Verne's Mission Statement identifies Community Service as one of four major concerns that "affirm a positive and rewarding life for its students." The University believes that "service is a primary goal of an educated person. The University therefore encourages its students to experience the responsibilities and rewards of serving the human and ecological community."Law students who want to engage in law related pro bono activities can contact the Director of Clinical Programs. For non-law related pro bono activities and community service opportunities, the students see the Assistant Dean of Students.
The College of Law's pro bono program is:
- A voluntary program for the law students.
- Students should aspire to perform 30 hours, or more, of volunteer work. Students who are able to perform 30 or more hours of pro bono publico work will be recognized during graduation.
- Students may volunteer for law related and non-law related activities.
- To be considered, the volunteer work must not result in the student receiving remuneration, academic credit, and/or some form of tangible reward.
