  Strategies for Pro Bono and Public Service During the Recession
The Center for Pro Bono launched a new web page to provide resources for law firms who are laying off lawyers or deferring start dates for new hires, lawyers who have been deferred or laid off, and pro bono, legal services and public interest organizations that have opportunities for those lawyers.   2009 Louis M. Brown Awards Presented at ABA Midyear Meeting
The Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services has selected the Virtual Courthouse.com to receive the 2009 Louis M. Brown Award for Legal Access. Three additional programs will receive meritorious recognition: The Community Legal Resources Network at CUNY; the law firm Heisler, Feldman, McCormick and Garrow, PC; and Have Justice Will Travel. The Awards were presented at the joint luncheon of the NCPB and NABE at the Midyear Meeting on February 13th.

  FDIC Extends Rule Affecting Insurance on IOLTA Accounts
On September 1, 2009, the FDIC amended the Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program (TLGP) and extended the Transaction Account Guarantee Program (TAG) for six months, until June 30, 2010. Under the final Rule, funds in IOLTA accounts will continue to be fully guaranteed by the FDIC, without limit, for participating financial institutions. Read more...
