National Conference for the Minority Lawyer
The ABA Section of Business Law and the Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession are pleased to announce the Ninth National Conference for the Minority Lawyer, to be held June 28-29, 2007 in Boston, MA. Featuring a great mix of programming, the National Conference continues its commitment to keeping the minority lawyer abreast of key diversity initiatives as they impact the minority lawyer community. The Section of Labor and Employment Law is proud to cosponsor the National Conference for the Minority Lawyer.
The Conference features an exciting lineup of programs, program highlights include: Affirmative Action in Law Firms: The Next Debate, a discussion of affirmative action in law firms between Richard Sander (whose recent law review articles asserting that affirmative action by law firms ultimately hinders the careers for minority lawyers has sparked such intense debate throughout the legal profession) and David Wilkins, one of the leading scholars on the careers of minority lawyers and Director of Harvard Law School’s Program on the Legal Profession.
We will also present the very timely program, Race and the Roberts Court, an examination of the issues of race that are likely to face the Roberts Court in the coming years. Leading the discussion is Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., head of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at the Harvard Law School.
