Hurricane Katrina Disaster Resources

1. Logon to: http://www.lawyers.com

2. Under SITE FEATURES [left side of the screen, middle of the page], click on [Lawyers & Clients Affected by Katrina - Communicate Here]

3. To post a message, you must first register. Under MY COMMUNITY [left side of the screen, middle of the page], click on Complete your free registration.

NOTE: If you filter or block email, adjust your settings to accept messages from @lawyers.com and @martindale.com PRIOR to completing the registration to receive correspondence concerning your account.

4. Complete all fields marked with * including the following the steps: * User name * Password * Your "Display Name" [this should be your name, or firm.] * Confirm you password.

5. A few moments after your registration has been submitted using the "Register" button at the bottom of the form, you will receive an email titled "Welcome to Lawyers.com" with the following information: Your registration credentials are: User Name: xxxxxx Display Name: xxxxx Password (case sensitive): xxxx Activation Code: (5 LETTER CODE, ALL CAPS) The final step in registration is the activation of your account:

5.1. Click on the link provided in the email or go to http://community.lawyers.com/members/AccountActivate.asp?logon

5.2. Insert the requested information using the exact case as noted in the activation email i.e., the activation code, (5 LETTER CODE, ALL CAPS)

5.3. Click on the "Activate Account" button

6. Following activation, login to the message board program under your account has been completed. You may submit a message by clicking on the POST A MESSAGE button found at the top of the message board. Complete the following fields: * [Subject:] Complete the SUBJECT LINE. It should be your company name, your city location [your city location BEFORE Hurricane Katrina]: an example is 'Smith Law, New Orleans' (Doing this step will help your clients locate your message quickly) * [Enter your message here:] Enter a text message indicating your new location, phone, fax, etc.

7. Users who wish to just read the postings may bypass registration and click directly on subject line of each individual posting.
