Donations

There are many ways you can contribue to the relief of victims affected by Hurricane Katrina. This page lists organizations and agencies the American Bar Association recommends to help the legal profession.

Donations to Legal Services Programs

Many legal services and pro bono programs in the states affected by Hurricane Katrina have suffered extensive damage. Those programs and others in the surrounding areas will no doubt experience a large influx of persons seeking free legal assistance in the aftermath of the storm, straining already limited resources. Those in the legal community can best appreciate the wave of legal needs hurricane survivors will soon face -- the grandmother who needs guardianship of the grandchildren she now cares for; veterans who can't get their medical and other benefits; elderly homeowners being scammed by predatory lenders; newly disabled individuals who need help getting benefits.
