For several years the ABA Committee on State Justice Initiatives (now merged into the Coalition for Justice) has surveyed state and local bar associations and state supreme courts to update our information clearinghouse. This year, the Committee included selected metropolitan trial courts in the survey for the first time.

The Summary shows more than 1,000 areas of activity, including 331 "justice initiatives" that involve the public as well as the courts and bar associations. Start with the Introduction, Executive Summary, and Using this Summary, then explore the Contents box for specific topics. For the latest updates, contact the resources listed for each of the traditional justice improvement activities and state summaries. See the 2001 Survey of Bar/Court Justice Improvement Activities Response Tally for a chart tallying the responses for each category of justice improvement activity as indicated by the bar associations and courts that completed the survey.
