Subcommittees
Directory of Minority Judges Data
Chaired by Judge Arthur L. Burnett, Sr., and co-chaired by Judge William B. Churchill, this subcommittee is undertaking the enormous task of identifying as many African-American, Asian-Pacific Island, Hispanic/Latino, Native-American and Tribal Court Judges as possible throughout the United States and its possessions, and compiling their directory information into a format which will allow publication in 2008 of the Directory of Minority Judges of the United States, 4th Edition.
Directory Marketing
This subcommittee is responsible for identifying sales opportunities and coordinating all marketing efforts within the American Bar Association for the Directory of Minority Judges of the United States, 4th Edition.
Isolation Brochure
This subcommittee is charged with updating and improving the ABA membership brochure directed to minority judges and commonly referred to as the Isolation Brochure.
Judicial Division Diversity Plan
This subcommittee's task was to evaluate various ABA Section Diversity Plans in light of the needs of the Judicial Division and to design and present for adoption a Judicial Division Diversity Plan. The subcommittee completed its work in June 2004 and presented its draft Diversity Action Plan for consideration by the Judicial Division Council. The Council met at the August 2004 Annual Meeting and, with minor changes, approved and implemented the Judicial Division Diversity Action Plan.
Goal IX Progress Report
This subcommittee's annual task is to review and tabulate the extent of participation by minorities in the Judicial Division and its six conferences. This committee is also responsible for reminding Division and Conference Program planners of the need to assure that programs are inclusive, both in content and presentment.
Outreach Activities
This subcommittee is responsible for arranging and coordinating an outreach event to a school or other facility in the locale where the ABA Judicial Division holds its annual and midyear meetings.
Programs
This subcommittee is responsible for planning, designing and presenting educational programs at ABA meetings and recommending cosponsorship of programs with other entities.
