Welcome to the home of the National Conference of Specialized Court Judges. Specialized Court Judges are the Judges that people are most likely to encounter, covering justice systems as diverse as: family Courts, traffic Courts, probate Courts, Tribal Courts, military Courts, therapeutic Courts; juvenile Courts, small claims Courts, municipal and county Courts, tax Courts, immigration Courts, environmental Courts and international criminal Courts. Recognizing that Specialized Court Judges are the front lines of a great variety of judicial systems, we are dedicated to instilling public trust and confidence in the organized systems of justice.
One exciting way the National Conference of Specialized Court Judges works to instill public trust and confidence is by presenting outreach programs to the public and training programs to other Judges. Recent topics have ranged from traffic safety to domestic violence on Indian Reservations, from stateside judicial requirements for deployed military personnel to judicial ethical problem solving. Conference members have served as faculty for these and numerous other programs and take great pride in bringing important information to the public and our fellow Judges.
All Conference members receive publications to keep current with the issues facing our various benches. The Conference produces the Specialized Court News, which appears in the ABA Judicial Division’s quarterly publication, the Judicial Division Record. The Conference also produces the Judicial Division Record feature Highway to Justice in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an organization with which the Conference has close ties. Both publications provide our members vehicles with which to share information, concepts and collegiality. Both are written by Conference members. Additionally, the Conference has a spirited list-serve, which covers local issues faced by our members as well as a running commentary regarding ongoing ABA activities in which our expertise is often sought. The Conference has had a direct and positive effect on ABA policy making.
Every month the Conference is actively engaged across the country, participating in outreach, teaching Judges, mentoring law students, addressing ABA policy and always supporting Specialized Court Judges in the crucial work we do. Being a Specialized Court Judge can be lonely. There is no need to be isolated. Join us. You have a professional home.
