Membership
Since 1976, the Council of Appellate Staff Attorneys has been specifically dedicated to addressing the unique needs of appellate court staff attorneys and providing its members with many benefits. CASA is devoted to promoting the professionalism of appellate staff attorneys and providing them tailored continuing legal education. CASA provides an informational network nationwide among the varying state and federal courts, facilitating dialogue and resolution of like problems. Through your membership in CASA, you foster pride and professionalism in the work of staff attorneys. However, CASA needs to keep growing. So if you are not a CASA member or know other staff attorneys who are not members to whom you could spread the word, please take a few moments to consider these benefits of CASA members:
- Ability to Attend Annual CASA Seminar at Reduced Fee
Each year, CASA conducts a high quality educational seminar at a first class hotel in an exciting and beautiful destination. CASA membership means discounts. CASA members pay only $395. Non-members will pay $445. Scholarships may be available. - Participate in the CASA List Serve
All CASA members are eligible to participate in a List Serve, an e-mail discussion group. Members receive any and all messages that other List Serve members send; to which they are welcome to respond. This is a great way to take advantage of membership in a group which includes peers from around the nation. To subscribe, click to complete our online form. - Publications
All CASA members receive four publications: CASA Quarterly, The Judges' Journal, The Judicial Division Record and the ABA Journal. CASA's own publication, CASA Quarterly, keeps you up to date with what's going on in appellate courts around the country. It previews and reviews CASA seminars and it offers you the chance to be an author! The ABA Journal is always full of timely, useful and interesting articles for staff attorneys. - Free Directory
All CASA members can access an annual updated Directory of Appellate Central Staff Counsel
for FREE. Instantly network with your counterparts
from other state and federal courts around the country.
Learn from them new ways to solve problems in your courts
or use their assistance in helping to sell a new idea at
your court. CASA membership is not a costly endeavor. Because
CASA operates under the auspices of the Appellate Judges
Conference of the American Bar Association, membership in
CASA requires joining the ABA. The ABA
and CASA have a special dues schedule for those attorneys
in government service.
