All group health plans must follow the new
administrative claims procedures for claims filed on or after
January 1, 2003. Shorter time periods and new review procedures
apply to both initial benefit claims and claims submitted
on administrative appeal. This teleconference will focus on
complex issues that face plan sponsors, health insurance providers,
State insurance commissioners and the U.S. Department of Labor
as the new procedures are put into place. Ample time will
be provided to address attendees' questions.
Topics Include:
- What are the most common problems still faced by
employers and service providers in implementing the
group health claims procedures?
- What are the compliance responsibilities of the
employer and the insurance provider?
- What procedures may be adopted for a two-tiered
appeal process for health and disability claims?
|
- How are the Federal claims procedures coordinated
with State external review procedures for insured
plans?
- Can arbitration be included in the administrative
claims process?
- What is the role of the State in the claims procedure
process?
