The administrative claims procedures that must be followed by all employee benefit plans are subject to new regulations effective on January 1, 2002 for pension, disability and most welfare benefit plans and effective for plan years beginning on or after July 1, 2002, for group health plans. The implementation of the new claims procedure regulations raises questions for plan sponsors regarding the new time lines that must be followed, the initial and appeal review process that may be used, and documentation that must be reviewed and kept. This teleconference will focus on key issues affecting plan sponsors and service providers regarding the implementation of the new benefit claims administrative review process.
