The Supreme Court and Desegregation: In the Wake of Meredith v. Jefferson County Board of Education

This term the U.S. Supreme Court considered two cases involving constitutional challenges to voluntary, race-conscious student assignment plans, one adopted by the Seattle School Board and one by the Jefferson County Board of Education in Kentucky. These cases will be the most significant Supreme Court decision on the role of race in education in years. This panel will discuss the Supreme Court’s decision and the ramifications of the decision.
