The American Bar Association
Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities
Presents Its Inaugural
PRO BONO SERVICE AWARD
To
MORRISON & FOERSTER LLP
Whose generous and steadfast support of the Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities has contributed immeasurably to the Section's mission of providing leadership to the legal profession in protecting and advancing human rights, civil liberties, and social justice. "MoFo" has researched and drafted Section-sponsored ABA amicus curiae briefs in critical immigration and civil rights cases, including authoring an outstanding brief in Lawrence and Garner v. Texas (2003); hosted Section meetings and outreach activities for minority and public interest lawyers; helped organize charitable Section initiatives to benefit children and the disadvantaged; and been a dedicated sponsor of the Section/ABA Thurgood Marshall Award Dinner since its inception in San Francisco in 1992. In all of these ways, as well as in encouraging its lawyers' involvement in the ABA and the Section, Morrison & Foerster's contributions have enriched the Section and enhanced its ability to carry out its work. We therefore present this Award with deep gratitude and appreciation this 8th day of August 2003.
