2008 Spring Meeting Registration Information

A variety of methods of registration are available for your convenience.  We encourage you to register by March 19th. Those registered by this date will be included in the List of Attendees distributed onsite.

On-site

Please visit our registration area starting April 1st at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 109 East 42nd Street at Grand Central Terminal, New York, NY.  To save time, please download a registration form here and complete it to turn in onsite.
Registration hours will open on Tuesday, April 1st from 3pm – 6pm and will then be open Wednesday, April 2nd – Friday April 4th from 7:30am – 5:00pm.

A variety of rates and discounts are available to each attendee.  Government and Academic rates are available for those with a primary position at an academic or government institution (i.e., law firm lawyers who also are adjunct professors would pay the firm rate).  Currently enrolled law students are eligible for the law student rate.  The ABA automatically adjusts registrations submitted at the incorrect rate.  Full payment at the correct rate must be received in order to process your registration and CLE credits. 

Paid meeting registration is a prerequisite for purchasing tickets to any of the Section sponsored events such as the three luncheons, the Wednesday night reception, and the Thursday night reception.  Tickets will not be sold or reserved until payment is received.  It is advisable to purchase tickets for desired events in advance, as tickets are sold on-site on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no guarantee that tickets will be available at the meeting.  If an event is not sold out, tickets may be purchased onsite at the On-site Registration booth.  Your registration fee includes: admission to all CLE sessions; CLE credit (pending the attendee’s filing of their CLE forms onsite with the CLE contact); refreshments at the networking breaks; course materials; and admission to the Tuesday and Friday night receptions.


SECTION MEMBER DISCOUNTS

The registration rate for Section of International Law members is reduced for all Section conferences as a member benefit.  The discount is currently reflected on the registration form.


SPONSOR DISCOUNTS

All sponsors of the 2008 Spring Meeting are eligible to register at the discounted sponsor registration rate.  This rate is $100 less than the Section Member rate. Fill out this discounted registration form by clicking here

COOPERATING ENTITY DISCOUNTS

A cooperating entity is defined as an association or non-profit group who participate as a “non-financial” sponsors and agree to publicize our Spring Meeting to their Association on their website, publications and various list serves in return for exposure at the spring Meeting.  In addition, these associations receive a discounted registration rate. SECTION MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS

Non-Section members may join the Section for free with a valid registration confirmation.  Please contact Angela Benson at bensona@staff.abanet.org for more information or check the appropriate information on the registration form under Step Five.

Stop by the Publications Display to preview the most popular Section titles and receive a 15% discount on all publication orders. 


CONFIRMATIONS

Confirmations will be sent within two weeks of receipt of your registration form (provided complete information and appropriate payment was submitted).  Please be advised that incomplete or incorrect information will delay the processing of registration forms.
If you have not received your confirmation within the time-frame estimated here, please email Mary Jordan Mullinax at mullinam@staff.abanet.org.  Please allow the estimated time given for confirmations prior to calling the Section to check on the status of your registration. 


REFUND POLICY

  • Cancellations must be made in writing and received by the Section office by March 14, 2008 for a full refund of fees, less a $100 administration fee.  No refund of registration or fee for a ticketed event will be granted after that date except in the case of medical emergency or extenuating circumstances approved by the Section in its sole discretion. Please allow four to six weeks after the conference for the processing of any refunds. 
  • When a completed registration form and payment have been submitted to the Section office either by mail or fax, the registration is considered to be a firm commitment and you will be expected to pay the registration and any ticketed event fees, unless a written cancellation is received as set forth above.
  • Individuals may re-sell their purchased tickets by their own discretion, unless the ticket is indicated to be “non-transferable.”


SPECIAL/DIETARY NEEDS

Confirmed registrations should notify Mary Jordan Mullinax at mullinam@staff.abanet.org by March 19th if special assistance for access and/or dietary needs are required.


COURSE MATERIALS

Course Materials for each CLE session, supplied to the Section office prior to the meeting, will be compiled onto CD-Roms for distribution to each attendee onsite.  Extra copies of the CD-Rom may be purchased using the registration form for a fee of $80.00.


SPRING MEETING HOTEL

The Grand Hyatt Hotel at Grand Central Station, 109 East 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017 has reserved a limited block of rooms until March 11, 2008 at the special low rate of $285 plus taxes per night. To reserve your accommodation at this hotel, please call 212-883-1234 and refer to the "ABA Section of International Law Spring Meeting".


EXHIBIT AREA

Exhibitors will be available Wednesday, April 2nd through Friday, April 4th in the registration area in Ballroom A at The Grand Hyatt.  Representatives from a variety of Publishers and service providers will demonstrate the latest research methods and exciting new products to aid you in your practice.  If you are interested in exhibiting, please contact Jessica Bowman, Bowmanj@staff.abanet.org.


MANDATORY CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION CREDIT (CLE)

Accreditation has been requested for the 2008 Spring Meeting programs by the ABA MCLE Division from every state with general mandatory continuing legal education requirements for all lawyers admitted in that state.  All appropriate paperwork will be available at the registration desk and in the back of each CLE program. DRESS CODE

For the 2008 Spring Meeting, business casual and business attire are both appropriate. The Thursday Reception at The Rainbow Room is black tie optional.
