Who should attend the Section of International Law 2008 Spring Meeting?

As the premier gathering of international experts worldwide, the International Law Spring Meeting has sessions that would appeal to a broad range of audiences including:

What does my registration fee include?

Your registration fee includes access to all panel sessions and plenary sessions (space permitting), and the Tuesday WIN/WING Reception, Wednesday Young Lawyers, Law Students and First Time Attendee Reception on Wednesday evening at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Friday Closing Reception at the Bloomberg Building and Friday, YIN After-Hours Reception at Azza Lounge. All other events require ticket purchase for entrance. Tickets for ticketed events will be an option on the registration form as well as being available for purchase onsite pending space availability.

Can I register for the meeting onsite?

Yes, you may register onsite at the meeting. However, higher registration fees will apply for onsite registrations. We strongly encourage you to register in advance via the Section of International Law Spring Meeting website. By registering early, you will have a speedier check-in when you arrive at the meeting.

Will I receive a refund if I have to cancel my registration?

Refunds are available based on when you cancel.  If you cancel on or before March 19th, 2008, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee, less a $100 administrative fee to cover the cost of processing. No refunds will be available for cancellations made after March 19th, 2008 or for no-shows. Requests for refunds may be submitted via email to Mary Jordan Mullinax at Mullinam@staff.abanet.org.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

For registrations made on-line, confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately.  For registrations made via phone, please allow one week for processing; confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately upon processing.  For registrations made with check payment via mail, please allow two weeks for processing; confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately upon processing. If you do not receive confirmation after 30 days, please do not hesitate to email Mary Jordan Muillinax at Mullinam@staff.abanet.org.

Will I receive a receipt for my registration?

Yes.  You will receive two e-mails, a registration confirmation and a purchase receipt.

I have registered for the meeting but would like to make changes to my name on my badge. How do I do this?

Your meeting badge will be created using the name and affiliation information submitted in your registration.  If you would like to change the information on your badge, you may do so onsite at the meeting registration desk.

Which hotel has a room block for this meeting?  What are the rates?

A block of rooms have been set aside at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at Grand Central Station, 109 East 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017 at the discounted rate of $ 285 plus tax. This block sells out quickly. To Reserve your accommodations at this hotel, please call 212-883-1234 and refer to the “ABA Section of International Law 2008 Spring Meeting.” The deadline to reserve a room at The Grand Hyatt Hotel is March 11th.

I am a student and would like to share a hotel room with another student to reduce costs.  Any suggestions on how to arrange this?

The Section of International Law does not have the ability to coordinate housing for students. We suggest you network at your school and through other schools to find other students with whom to share housing.

What is the dress code for the Spring Meeting?

Can I receive CLE credit for attending the International Law Spring Meeting?

The Section of International Law will provide both General and Ethics CLE Credit at the 2008 Spring Meeting. New York Lawyers will Earn up to 2 Year’s worth of General CLE Credit (26 hours); Up to 3 year’s worth of hard-to-get Ethic’s credit (12 hours); and 3.5 hours of “Bridge the Gap MCLE Credits” for newly admitted attorney’s.

CLE forms will be in the back of each CLE program at the Spring Meeting. For questions while at the meeting, please visit the CLE counter outside of Ballroom A at The Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Where can I sign up for Friday Evening Committee Dinners?

Committee dinner sign up will be located in a separate booth just outside of Ballroom A at The Grand Hyatt Hotel. There will be a concierge available to make restaurant suggestions and make your dinner reservations for Friday evening. All are welcome to attend a committee dinner. They will take place directly after the Friday Closing Reception at the Bloomberg Tower.
