Who should attend the Section of International Law 2007 Spring Meeting?

As the premier gathering of international experts worldwide, the International Law Spring Meeting has sessions that would appeal to a broad range of audiences including:

  • Practicing Attorneys

  • Business executives focused on International Law

What does my registration fee include?

Your registration fee includes access to all panel sessions and plenary sessions (space permitting), and the Thursday International Wine Reception at The Fairmont Hotel. All other events require ticket purchase for entrance.  Tickets for ticketed events will be an option on the registration form as well as being available for purchase onsite pending space availability.

Can I register for the meeting onsite?

Yes, you may register onsite at the meeting.  However, higher registration fees will apply for onsite registrations.  We strongly encourage you to register in advance via the Section of International Law Spring Meeting website.  By registering early, you will have a speedier check-in when you arrive at the meeting.

Will I receive a refund if I have to cancel my registration?

Refunds are available based on when you cancel.  If you cancel on or before Date TBD, 2007, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee, less a $100 administrative fee to cover the cost of processing.  No refunds will be available for cancellations made after Insert Date or for no-shows. Requests for refunds may be submitted via email to Mary Jordan Mullinax at Mullinam@staff.abanet.org .

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

For registrations made on-line, confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately.  For registrations made via phone, please allow one week for processing; confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately upon processing.  For registrations made with check payment via mail, please allow two weeks for processing; confirmation of registration will be sent via email immediately upon processing. If you do not receive confirmation after 30 days, please do not hesitate to email Mary Jordan Muillinax at Mullinam@staff.abanet.org .

Will I receive a receipt for my registration?

Yes.  You will receive two e-mails, a registration confirmation and a purchase receipt.

I have registered for the meeting but would like to make changes to my name on my badge. How do I do this?

Your meeting badge will be created using the name and affiliation information submitted in your registration.  If you would like to change the information on your badge, you may do so onsite at the meeting registration desk.

Which hotel has a room block for this meeting?  What are the rates?

I am a student and would like to share a hotel room with another student to reduce costs.  Any suggestions on how to arrange this?

The Section of International Law does not have the ability to coordinate housing for students.  We suggest you network at your school and through other schools to find other students with whom to share housing.

I would like to explore D.C. while I am there. Where can I find out more information about touring the city?

Official visitor information about Washington, DC is available at www.washington.org.

What airport is most convenient to fly into?  How far is the airport from the hotel?

The closest airport to the Fairmont Washington DC is the Reagan National Airport (airport code: DCA).  In normal traffic, it’s about a 15 minute drive from the airport to the hotel.

Washington Dulles International (airport code: IAD) is the next closest airport, located about 30-40 minutes from the hotel.

Baltimore/Washington International Airport (airport code: BWI) is also convenient to DC, located about 45 minutes to 1 hour drive from the city.

What’s the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?

All airports are accessible to Washington, DC and the Fairmont Hotel via Metro and train service, as well as rental cars, taxis and shuttle services.  For more information, click on the links below.

Which Metro stops are closest to the Fairmont Hotel?

From the Foggy Bottom Metro Station

  • Take the escalators to the street level.
  • Make a U turn and walk away from the escalators.
  • Continue to the corner of 24th Street, NW and make a right turn.
  • Continue north on 24th to M Street, NW.
  • The Fairmont Washington, D.C. ;will be on the left-hand corner after crossing over M Street.

From the Dupont Circle Metro Station

  • Take the Circle South exit.     
  • Walk straight south on 19th Street, NW.     
  • Make a right turn on N Street, NW.     
  • Continue to 24th Street, NW.     
  • Make a left on 24th Street, NW.     
  • The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is on the next corner on the right

What are the driving directions to the hotel?

Is parking available at the hotel?

Yes, the Fairmont has a parking garage, at a rate of $27 per day for valet parking (subject to change).

What is the dress code for the Annual Meeting?

Business attire and business casual is encouraged for all meetings and events at the International Law 2007 Spring Meeting.  At the Annual Dinner, many prefer cocktail attire.

Can I receive CLE credit for attending the International Law Spring Meeting?

The Section of International Law will provide both General and Ethics CLE Credit at the Spring Meeting.

Where can I sign up for Thursday Evening Committee Dinners?

Committee dinner sign up will be located in a separate booth near the registration booths. There will be a concierge available to make resturaunt suggestions and make your dinner reservations for Thursday evening.  All are welcome to attend a committee dinner.

Will International Law publications be available for purchase at the Annual Meeting?

International Law publication will be for sale at the Spring Meeting. Please visit the Section of International Law exhibit table for prices and to browse.
