Introduce Committees, Schildhaus

This session focuses on the lifeblood of the Section: its Committees. The format will be highly interactive, loosely in the form of a skit in which everyone will participate. So, please be sure you have read your leadership manual, even if you think you know it all. The second part of the program will be a “brag and rag.” Be prepared to share your experiences and observations, positive and negative. What has worked and why? What has not worked and why not? By the time the retreat ends, you should know what all Section leaders need to know about running committee and about monitoring and contributing to the activities of the Section.

Policy, Hannay

This session will be presented by Bill Hannay, a prior Chair of the Section and a member of the (big) ABA House of Delegates. Bill is currently running for an at large seat for the ABA Board of Governor. Bill will explain how our Section can and does make and influence policy and how our recommendations move through the Big ABA’s labyrinth of governance. This session will be interactive. After Bill’s introduction, we will break up into several groups which will discuss and hopefully outline policy initiatives which our Section could consider for the 2006 year in light of the Section’s Strategic Plan) and current events. Hopefully, at the end of the session, we will come away with a list of policy initiatives which we can then implement.
