American Bar Association June 27 – July 1, 2001 Dear Colleague: It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 8th Annual Summer IPL Conference, sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law. The 2001 Summer IPL Conference will be held June 27-July 1 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Washington. This year we are being joined in our Summer IPL Conference by a number of local IPL organizations. We welcome the participation of these groups. To this effect, we are offering the ABA IPL Section Member registration rate to members of any of theses organizations. As in the past, our Section’s social event and tour schedule will utilize a wide cross-section of the attractions of the beautiful Northwest and will include programs designed for members, their spouses and their children. From lower-priced, closer half-day tours, to longer excursions outside the city limits, there will be something of interest offered to all. The 8th Annual Summer IPL Conference is a ‘don’t miss’ opportunity for Section members and their families. It will provide the chance for all intellectual property practitioners, members, non-members, the new and the experienced, to gain insights into new developments, debate current issues and share ideas with others interested in improving the protection of intellectual property nationally and internationally. We have an outstanding educational program scheduled featuring informative topics and noted speakers. Additionally, reports and resolutions of the Section’s substantive committees will be presented, analyzed and debated for the development of positions that will lay the foundation for future Section and ABA statements and testimony on current and future intellectual property law issues. CLE credit will be available for all educational and business sessions. Seattle provides a scenic, historic, exciting, and colorful backdrop for what promises to be a truly memorable event. The comprehensive mix of educational programs, networking opportunities, committee meetings, social events, exhibits, sporting tournaments and exciting and memorable tours ensure an invaluable conference. Seattle promises to be a popular location, as the Summer IPL Conference continues to grow. We expect this meeting to attract a larger share of the Section’s 20,000 members than any previous conference. I urge you to mark your calendars, register early, and make your airline and hotel reservations now. Charlotte and I look forward to hosting all of you in Seattle June 27-July 1. Edward G. Fiorito |
