Participate in an IP Roundtable Discussion

The co-chairs of the Intellectual Property Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation invite you to participate in one of the committee’s most popular programs - the Roundtables. These gatherings are informal opportunities for participants to meet in small groups at convenient locations to discuss current issues in intellectual property litigation. Section Leadership Meeting Moved to Fall

The Section Leadership Meeting will now be held in the fall instead of the winter. This year's meeting will take place November 12-14 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, FL.

Section Officers, Council Members, and Division and Committee Chairs will converge to share their respective plans with one another. It provides an opportunity for all members of the Section leadership to get to know each other better, learn about the status of projects throughout the Section, and get comments and constructive criticism from others.

Section Staff Expanding to Better Serve Members' Needs

Megan Bennett has recently joined the Section staff in the position of administrative assistant. In this position, she will primarily assist in the meeting planning efforts of the Section. Megan will also be the Staff Liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Title Guarantee Funds.

Megan formerly worked as a public relations event facilitator for a consulting company in Michigan for a year. She also served as a summer office intern with a PR agency in Chicago, as a summer intern for ABC-12 in Flint, Michigan, and as a summer marketing intern for BD's Mongolian BBQ franchise operation in Michigan.

She is a 2004 graduate of St. Mary's College/ Notre Dame University, with a B.A. in Communication Studies, and an American History minor. She can be reached at 312-988-6268 or bennetm@staff.abanet.org.

The Section also anticipates hiring a membership and marketing manager in addition to a technology manager in the near future, to add to staff resources so that the Section can better answer its members' needs.

Nominating Committee Welcomes Suggestions

The Nominating Committee, which Section Chair E. Anthony Figg recently appointed, welcomes suggestions of members for nominees for the offices of Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, Secretary, Financial Officer, Section Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates and four new members of Council for four-year terms expiring in 2010. Under the Section Bylaws, Susan Barbieri Montgomery, current Chair-Elect, will automatically assume the office of Section Chair on September 1, 2006.

The nominees will be voted on at the Section’s business meeting, Saturday, August 5, 2006, during the ABA Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
