Health Law Section

Policy Review and Coordination Committee

Charter: The mission of the Policy Review and Coordination Committee is to assist the Health Law Section Council, the Section Representatives to the House of Delegates and the Section’s Interest Groups in reviewing and coordinating proposed internal and external policy initiatives in order that the Section may effectively represent the interests of its members in interactions with the ABA House of Delegates and Board of Governors, federal and state governmental authorities and other constituencies and stakeholders. In carrying out such mission, the Committee will coordinate closely with the Section’s Governmental Relations Committee, its ABA Relations Committee, its Task Force on Access to Healthcare, and such other groups as the Section Chair or the Council may designate from time to time.

The specific functions of the Committee will include the following:

  • Reviewing proposed actions of the House of Delegates and, as applicable, the Board of Governors having implications for the Section and its areas of focus and advising the Section’s Delegates and Council thereon.
  • Reviewing and advising the Council on requests for blanket authority relating to the Section’s area of focus, and assisting in the development of Section-initiated requests for blanket authority.
  • Assisting the Section’s Interest Groups in the development of government submissions, including advising the Interest Groups on coordination with other Interest Groups and ABA components.
  • Assisting as requested by the Chair or the Council in the development of Section-initiated Reports and Recommendations to the House of Delegates.
  • Acting as a liaison with applicable Section Committees and Task Forces, the Governmental Relations Committee, and the ABA Relations Committee to help ensure the coordination of policy initiatives.
