Getting Older Just Got Harder: Health-Care Challenges for the Elderly

The baby boomers are about to turn 65 and meanwhile their parents are still very much in the picture. The world has never seen an elderly population of this size and durability. We are no longer dealing with life spans of 70 years, but instead with life spans of 80, 90 and 100 years. This session will focus on the practical challenges of serving this aging population, including the physical and procedural accommodations needed to serve this population, the creative and innovative planning necessary to deal with the special issues of the elderly such as Medicare (including the new Part D), Medicaid and Long-Term Care Insurance as well as nuts-and-bolts planning for end-of-life decision making. This topic is relevant for all lawyers, both professionally and in their personal lives, as they deal with their parents, their parents' friends, themselves and their friends, along with their clients.
