The purposes of this month's teleconference will be:

  1. 1) to discuss current projects (such as teleconferences) under development;
  2. to invite IG member interest and participation in a variety of projects and educational opportunities;
  3. to review and solicit IG comments on the recently proposed Patient Safety Quality Improvement Act regulations, published on February 12, 2008: http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/ContentViewer?objectId=09000064803acce8&disposition=attachment&contentType=html.
  4. to have a roundtable discussion on the attached proposed report and recommendation by the ABA Commission on Law and Aging regarding "Physicians' Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment".

The Healthcare Facility Operations Interest Group (HCFO) focuses on the laws, regulations, and policies governing the operations of hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The IG deals with areas of the law and regulations included within Medicare, Medicaid, EMTALA, state and local licensure laws and regulations, and standards of national organizations such as the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and the National Committee on Quality Assurance
