Food for Thought
Most attorneys are wimps in the human
resources arena, says Harry A. Harrison, senior partner with
Aronson, Fetridge & Weigle in Rockville, Maryland. Harrison
is a CPA and law practice management consultant. He advises
attorneys to eliminate routine staff raises and bonuses because
they are taken for granted. Employees of the law firm of tomorrow
will be compensated according to how well they perform, he says.
Any raises will be tied to increased profitability--after all, it
is hard to justify giving your administrative assistant a salary
increase if firm revenues are not also on the rise.
