Marketing Your Practice Without Selling Your
Soul
Jim Calloway, Oklahoma City,

Many lawyers tend to think of marketing as
somewhat distasteful, or they may only think of marketing when
business is slow. Many of us have seen unprofessional and
“over the top” advertisements for lawyers. But the
small firm lawyer can have an effective marketing effort without
being crass or unprofessional. This fast-paced program will cover
all aspects of marketing, from personal networking to attorney
web pages to business cards and e-newsletters. Jim Calloway will
show you how to design and implement your own marketing plan.
Zen and the Art of Office Management
Reid Trautz, Washington, D.C.
Being a solo or
small firm practitioner is not an excuse for bad
management or poor procedures. Here are tips all solo and small
practitioners can and should implement to make their practices
more relaxing and rewarding.

Vizcaya
Museum and Gardens
Join us for a party to remember
on Friday evening at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a National
Historic Landmark in Miami and the original winter home of James
Deering. Vizcaya, one of South Florida’s most famous
attractions, was originally constructed in 1916 on more than 180
acres and was designed to resemble an Italian villa, with
incredible architecture, art and furnishings, and rolling gardens
that go on for miles. Our enchanted evening begins with cocktails
and hors d’oeuvres in the Vizcaya estate and gardens, to be
followed by dinner, dessert, and dancing overlooking Biscayne
Bay. Ticket: $85, includes open bar, dinner, dancing, and
transportation. Suggested attire: tropical cocktail (no
suits/ties needed).

After-Dinner Party
Things really heat up
once the sun goes down. Make reservations with friends and
colleagues for dinner at any one of Miami’s fabulous and
diverse restaurants. Then return to the group for one more good
time on Miami Beach. Later, the sounds will fill the night on our
private patio of the Hotel Astor. After a cocktail and regrouping
with friends, venture out with your Host Committee’s list
of the beaches, clubs, and hot spots. No ticket necessary, cash
bar.
