Swearing In Ceremonies

The Opening Session of the GP|Solo Spring Meeting 2007 will include Swearing In Ceremonies for the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. For information on how to apply, please see instructions below. (Note: Civilian attorneys are encouraged to apply for admission to the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.)

U.S. Supreme Court Instructions for Admission

Submit completed admission packet to arrive not later than 2 April to Bryan Spencer at the address below for all packets to be submitted “IN A GROUP” to the Court Admissions Clerk.

1. Completed admission packets must follow the “WRITTEN MOTION/MOTION FOR ADMISSION” procedure—see the Supreme Court Website for instructions and an application. Completed admissions packets must include your completed application with signed statement of sponsors and your oath, together with an original signed certificate of good standing and a check for $100.00 payable to the U.S. Supreme Court.

2. John P. Macy, our chair, will move the admissions. Insert his name in the blank after the “I” in the “MOTION FOR ADMISSION” paragraph, and your name after “admission of”, on page 2. If you wish to have another member of the SCUS bar move your admission, list their name instead of John P. Macy.

U.S. Court of Appeals for The Armed Forces Instructions for Admission

Submit completed admission packet to arrive not later that 18 April to the address on the top of the application, Attn: Admissions Clerk. Your cover letter should advise that you plan to be admitted on 10 May during the ABA General Practice, Solo & Small firm Division ceremony at the court.

Completed admission packets must include the application, an original signed certificate of good standing, and a check for $35.00 payable to the “Clerk of the USCAAF”. See www.armfor.uscourts.gov (click “BAR” on the right side) for a copy of the application and Rule 13, Admissions Requirements.
