Who Is GP|Solo Secretary jennifer j. rose?

  • Formally, jennifer j. rose. (Try reading it like a sentence!)
  • Born during the Truman administration (but really doesn’t remember much about it).
  • Learned to walk and talk in Turkey (the country, not the bird), schooled in Southern California, practiced divorce law in Iowa for 20 years, and now lives in Mexico.
  • 1976 Drake University Law School graduate.
  • Was town attorney for three cities with a combined population of less than a thousand.
  • Past chair of the Iowa State Bar Association Family & Juvenile Law Section and former (and first woman) president of the 12-member Page County Bar Association.
  • Served on ABA Standing Committee on Continuing Education of the Bar; now serves on ABA Standing Committee on Publishing Oversight.
  • Served as Editor-in-Chief of GPSOLO magazine, 1995-2007.
  • Editor, How to Capture and Keep Clients (she recommends the use of soft restraints).
  • List manager for Solosez for the past decade.
  • Most embarrassing Division moment: Moderating a CLE program at an Annual Meeting where the room was packed but none of the speakers showed up. Passing the microphone around the room, she recruited the attendees to talk.
  • On her iPod: Kinky Friedman, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan.
  • Lives alone with Goodman, her Doberman pinscher.
  • Serves on the local historical preservation council.
  • Remembers e-mail addresses better than faces.
