Administrative Committees
Alumni Committee
The primary purpose of this committee is to recognize senior and past members of our Section, encourage their continued involvement within the Section and provide them with programming and meeting opportunities.
Awards Committee
The purpose of this committee is to uphold the highest ideals of the ABA and the legal profession by recruiting, selecting and recognizing outstanding leaders of the legal profession based upon their work in promoting the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm practitioner .
Budget Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to create, maintain and monitor the Section’s financial budget plan to ensure the well-being and efficiency of the Section.
Bylaws Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to regularly examine the Section’s long term governance and amend governing documents to meet the Section’s administrative and governing needs.
Communications Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to communicate our Section’s goals and mission statement to section members, other ABA entities and members and critical groups in the general public.
Corporate Sponsor Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to identify vendors who provide services and benefits useful to the Section’s constituency to build relationships and structure mutually beneficial financial relationships that can benefit the Section’s long term health and vitality.
Diversity Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to recruit, retain and serve lawyers of diverse, racial and ethnic gender and sexual orientation backgrounds.
House of Delegates Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to advance the interest of our constituency within the ABA, the profession, and their personal lives by speaking out on issues of importance, articulating policy and advocating our constituents’ interest and to increase the prominence of the Section within the ABA and the profession.
Long Range Planning Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to identify issues, Section policy and create and maintain resources adequate to ensure the well-being and efficiency of the Section.
Meetings Arrangements Design Team (MAD Team)
The primary focus of this committee is to plan, implement and coordinate all Section meetings in a cost-efficient, interesting and exciting format in order to retain current members and attract new members.
Nominating Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to identify and evaluate leaders of the Section and nominate them for leadership positions.
Outreach Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to recruit, retain and develop members of our Section by providing products to attract and ensure our members’ success in professional excellence.
Past Chairs Advisory Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to draw upon the wisdom of our previous leaders to help guide the Section in its long term well-being.
Professionalism and Professional Responsibility
In reviewing the Codes of Professional conduct, this committee reveals "hot topics" that have universal appeal to all lawyers. A newsletter, together with regional and national programs, spotlight these topics. In an effort to increase a lawyer's responsibility "beyond the rules," seminars are given to target the topics of lawyer to lawyer, lawyer to the court, lawyer to the client, and lawyer to the community.
Public Service
This committee focuses on opportunities to serve the public via education efforts as well as the delivery of legal services to low and moderate income people. It keeps the Section membership informed of public education opportunities as well as development of legal services programs for the poor and working poor to enhance pro bono participation by members of the Section. The Tolerance Through Education initiative is a Public Service committee project.
Scope and Correlation Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to identify and define the scope and correlation of various boards, teams and committees of the Section in a way to best advance the interest of our constituents within the ABA, the profession and their personal lives.
Steering Committee on Products
The primary focus of this committee is to monitor the creation, design and implementation of products for the GP Solo Section.
Technology Committee
The primary focus of this committee is to suggest, coordinate and supervise the technological direction of the Section for the betterment of the membership.
