LegallyMinded - How You Can Take Advantage

Last week we opened the doors to LegallyMinded (www.legallyminded.com), the new online community for the legal profession presented by the American Bar Association.

For further background about LegallyMinded, read the sidebar article, The ABA Gets Social, from the December issue of the ABA Journal .

How You can take advantage of LegallyMinded as an individual:

  • Connect with peers and other legal professionals
    • Network with like-minded individuals in the legal industry
    • Join groups on a variety of interests and topics
    • Create a group if a topic doesn’t exist*
  • Share knowledge
    • Contribute to a group discussion
    • Upload an article or file to your profile
    • Write a Know-How article in LegallyMinded’s Know-How Wiki
    • Create a blog on your area of practice or some other legal interest.
  • Voice your opinion
    • Give blogs, posts, discussion threads, groups, and wiki articles a thumbs up
    • Comment on blog posts

How You Can Strategically Use LegallyMinded:

  • Participate on member groups and point back to your entities content or other ABA resources
  • Listen to what is being said about particular topics and issues in the legal profession. See if your entity can create a resource or solution for the problems.
  • Interact with non-members of the ABA

* LegallyMinded Groups are not supposed to replicate the ABA’s current governance and committee structure. If an ABA member is going to create a group, it should not be a replica of an existing ABA committee or group or one that implies membership requirement. Example: Create a group called Cyberspace Law instead of ABA Business Law Section Cyberspace Law Committee.
