American Bar Association Forum on Communications Law
CommLawAlert
A service from the Forum on Communications Law that puts key decisions, statutes, and other legal developments in the publishing and communication fields in your hands as soon as they are available! This listserv is controlled and is not a discussion forum, meaning that it is not subject to abuse by spammers, you will not receive jokes and chain letters, and the subscribers to the list cannot use it to discuss cases and developments. The only things you will receive are the text of U.S. Supreme Court and other significant court decisions in libel, privacy, copyright, Internet, etc. cases, new federal or state statutes in these areas, and other such items, accompanied by a brief summary or explanation, when available. Our goal is to get these items to your e-mail box as soon as they are available in digital form. We anticipate sending you 2 - 3 communications per month.
If you want to subscribe, send an e-mail from the e-mail address at which you wish to subscribe to:
listserv@mail.abanet.org
with no Subject header, with the following as the body of the e-mail:
"SUBSCRIBE commlawalert your first name your last name"
(You will receive back a message asking you to confirm that you want to subscribe and then, after you do so, a Welcome message with the list's procedures, including how to unsubscribe, if and when you wish to do so. Please print out and keep the Welcome message in case you need it.)
Any questions or problems? E-mail Teresa Ucok at: tucok@staff.abanet.org
If you are involved in a case or other legal matter that results in a significant legal decision, please feel free to e-mail the decision to tucok@staff.abanet.org for consideration for transmittal to the List.
We hope this service will help you keep informed of significant breaking legal developments.
