Law Students
Below you'll find information relevant to law students (including an essay contest), as well as information on joining the Section!
Membership
We encourage law students to join the Section of Family Law! Our student members receive all the benefits our attorney and associate members do, including:
- a subscription to our nationally recognized magazine, Family Advocate;
- online access to Family Law Quarterly (our scholarly journal);
- a monthly subscription to our eNewsletter;
- the opportunity to join over 20 substantive committees;
- the opportunity to receive the monthly Case Update via e-mail; and more.
FamLawStudents
When you join the Section, you can sign up for Famlawstudents, our e-mail discussion forum designed especially for students to share ideas, discuss topics of interest, and receive announcements for students only.
It's easy to opt-in to the list. Just send a request (include your full name and e-mail address) to familylaw@abanet.org and indicate that you'd like to join famlawstudents.

Committee of Interest
Read about the Young Lawyers Committee and consider getting involved! It's a great way to get more invested in the Section and your community. (You'll also probably pick up a thing two about careers in family law.)
