About the Program

The 40-Hour Family Mediation Training program is designed to provide you with an overview of the mediation process, including the various types of mediation and mediators, as well as strategies and skills you might consider using.

You'll learn how mediation is used to address a variety of family law issues, including divorce, post-divorce modification, asset division, and custody and parenting arrangements.

This training will involve active participation in addition to lectures and multimedia presentations. Participants will be provided with at least five opportunities to role-play as a mediator over the course of the five-day training. Training and role-play coaching will be provided by experienced practitioners and mediators.

  • 40 Hours of Training
  • Role-Playing and Critique: Each participant will have at least 5 opportunities to role-play
  • Materials Notebook: Notebook of resources, articles, forms and template materials will be provided
  • Experienced Faculty

Faculty

Registration

Space is limited to 24 participants. Registration Fees are as follows:

  • Extended Early-Bird Fee ABA Family Law Section or ABA Dispute Resolution Section members: $1600
  • Standard Non-ABA Family Law or Non-ABA Dispute Resolution Section members: $1800
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Registration Deadline Extended: 10/16/09.

Cancellation Policy: To receive a full refund, minus a $50 administrative fee, a written request must be received on or before October 16, 2009. No refunds will be issued after that date. Contact Section staff at norrisa@staff.abanet.org.

Please note that the ABA reserves the right to cancel a program for any reason. In the event of such cancellation, ABA will refund any advance registration fees paid.

Training will take place at Boston Law Collaborative's offices at 99 Summer Street, Suite 1600, Boston, MA.

Boston Logan International Airport is accessible via public transportation (the Blue and Silver Lines), multiple taxi-cab and water taxi companies (Metered-rates from Logan to the Boston-area range from approximately $25 to $50), private limousine service (reservations recommended), shared ride vans (AAA Boston Limousine, Boston Logan Super Shuttle, Day & Knight Transportation, Easy Transportation, Kings Shuttle & Limousine, and Star Shuttle), and all major car rental companies.
