CLE Programs and Events
Our Family Law Meeting provides you with the opportunity to learn more about issues in assisted reproduction and managing business valuation engagements. You also have the chance to learn about a variety of topics with the ever-popular Hot Tips program! Special dinners, luncheons and receptions offer chances to unwind and learn more about Section activities. Noted speakers from across the country will be presenting at these CLE sessions as well as at the ABA Presidential CLE General Sessions, too. (For more detail, see ABA CLE.)
Family Law CLE Sessions
All Family Law CLE takes place at the San Francisco Marriott. See Schedule for more information on dates/times.
- Contemporary Issues in Assisted Reproduction
This program will educate attendees on significant issues relating to the increase of assisted reproduction to procreate children. These issues are among those raised by the proposed Model Code on Assisted Reproductive Technologies approved by the Family Law Council in February 2007and which lawyers are increasingly encountering in their practices in domestic relations, estate planning, torts, medical liability, insurance and other fields of practice. Among the topics to be covered are the need for mental health counseling, donation or transfer of unused embryos, resolution of divorce disputes over embryo disposition, parentage of children conceived by these technologies, posthumous conception, compensation of gametes or embryo donors, commercialization of embryo provision, health insurance and damages.
Speakers
- Managing Business Valuation Engagements
Managing the business valuation engagement requires an understanding of the process as a whole. Beginning with choosing an expert and reviewing the engagement letter, the process includes the investigation, report, deposition, mediation, and trial. Learning each step in context can make a huge difference in the outcome for the client. This presentation explains how one can avoid falling into predictable traps.
Speakers
- Hot Tips from the Experts
This is the 22nd year of the extremely popular, fast-moving program comprised of five-minute hot tips, strategies and techniques shared by nationally known experts. Come and learn from the best!
