2008 ABA Award for Excellence in Environmental and Resources Stewardship
The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources invites nominations for the 2008 ABA Award for Excellence in Environmental and Resources Stewardship. This award was established in 2002 to recognize and honor the accomplishments of a person, organization, or group that has distinguished itself in environmental and resources stewardship.
Nominees must be people or organizations that have demonstrated significant achievement or leadership in areas of sustainable development or environmental or resources stewardship. This may include major contributions in the areas of resources, energy, or environmental law or policy that serve to enhance conservation, responsible development, prudent resource use, and pollution abatement or mitigation. Awards may be given for achievements in legal practice or business; in written articles; in teaching; in advocacy before courts, agencies, legislators, or other institutions; or for any other significant achievement that evidences excellence in environmental and resources stewardship. Achievement or leadership can have been exhibited over a number of years or with respect to a single substantial accomplishment.

2007 Award for Distinguished Achievement in Environmental Law and Policy
The ABA Standing Committee on Environmental Law and the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources are pleased to issue a "Call for Nominations" for the 2007 ABA Award for Distinguished Achievement in Environmental Law and Policy.
An award will be considered for one individual and one organization, and both will be honored at a ceremony and reception at the ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco in August 2007. While nominations may recognize distinction relating to any environmental subject matter, this year the awards committee particularly encourages nominations that recognize singular contributions and creative approaches (e.g., private-public partnerships, market-based initiatives, local and state government plans, etc.) to environmental law and policy in the areas of global climate change and renewable energy. We hope to review a wide array of candidates. Nomination materials are available here. Please feel free to share this announcement and the URL with colleagues.
Nominations are due in the ABA Washington office no later than Friday, March 30, 2007. Early submissions are welcome, and electronic submissions are preferred. We hope that many of you will nominate deserving candidates, and we look forward to hearing from you. The Awards subcommittee will review submissions in the spring, recommending finalists to the full committee in June 2007.
