Program Overview:
In 2007, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued final regulations creating comprehensive new reporting, recordkeeping, and site security requirements concerning storage and use of potentially hazardous chemicals. The new chemical facility security regulations target dozens of chemicals used in virtually every business sector, including manufacturing, research and development, and agriculture. To comply with the new requirements, businesses must effectively merge knowledge and expertise typically handled separately within their organizations, including environmental compliance, worker health and safety, and site security. In this teleconference, a representative of DHS will summarize the key phases and requirements of this new regulatory program. Other panelists will discuss common challenges and questions posed by the new regulations, and provide practical advice on developing and implementing compliance programs to address the new requirements.
Educational Objectives:
- Highlight key deadlines and requirements under the new DHS chemical facility security regulations
- Provide practical advice about how to comply with the new regulations
- Answer questions concerning interpretation and application of the new regulations to different business operations
