Section Business Activities

Section leadership should plan to attend special sessions throughout the meeting for committee chairs and vice chairs, Service Group members, and Council members. Section members are welcome to attend. Each of these meetings will help you learn more about the Section and its activities.

Joint Meeting of the Service Groups
Members of the Education, Membership, and Publications Service Groups will meet together to discuss goals and projects for the upcoming year. The meeting will be lead by Alexandra Dunn (Education Officer), Laura Kosloff (incoming Membership Officer), and Kathleen Marion Carr (Publications Officer).

Committee Vice Chair Leadership Training
New and continuing committee vice chairs are invited to this orientation session covering the role of committees in the ABA and the Section. Hear how your activities provide our members with important membership benefits.

Committee Chairs will join Council liaisons to discuss strategies for the upcoming year. This is an excellent opportunity to meet chairs of other Section committees and plan cooperative initiatives.

Committee Vice Chair Working Groups
Committee vice chairs will break into working groups representing their leadership role: committee newsletters, membership, programs, public service, technology, and The Year in Review. This session will enable vice chairs to meet their peers from other committees as leadership responsibilities are discussed in detail.

Lunch with the Client (Ticketed Event)
Join senior in-house counsel for lunch in a small-group setting. Some of the top in-house counsel specializing in environmental, energy, and resources law will share their views and answer questions on how they select outside counsel, what they expect from outside counsel, and how they manage outside counsel. Find out how to impress them, how to add value, and what it takes to tick them off. Ask them all the questions that you've been wondering about. This lunch will be set up in groups of eight or ten, with at least one in-house counsel and a moderator at each table.
