Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources
2008 Spring Council Meeting
May 15-17, 2008, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources will hold its Spring Council Meeting at Fairmont Chateau Laurier, 1 Rideau St., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on May 15-17, 2008. The meeting will involve discussions and decisions on key issues for our Section. Your participation in this meeting is important to continuing what has been a productive year and to achieving a smooth transition into the next bar year under incoming Chair Claudia Rast. Because your presence at the meeting will also confirm your continued interest in a Section leadership role, it is highly recommended that Committee Chairs attend the Meeting. Committee Vice Chairs and Section Liaisons are also welcome.
The Executive Committee and members of the National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section (NEERLS) of the Canadian Bar Association will meet and hold a CLE conference at the Fairmont on May 15-16, 2008. Leadership from the ABA and CBA will meet to discuss possible both ongoing and future collaborations. The CLE program titled “2008 National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Summit: Climate Change and Air Quality - Cross Border Issues” has been designed to focus on “the” legal and political hot topic throughout North America and in much of the world. The program will include an overview of the rapidly expanding North American legal regime; the emergence of carbon markets; green power; the continued resurgence of the nuclear industry; and a review of several cross-border air issues. A full program brochure is attached; a registration fee is required to attend. Attendance by Section members for the entire CLE program is encouraged.
We are currently fine-tuning the details for the evening reception and other events. Additional details will be forwarded to you as soon as they are confirmed.
