Superfund and Hazardous Waste Committee - Newsletter Archive

Vol. 4, No. 2 - March 2003

Message from the Chair

Jeffrey M. Pollock

In this edition, which David Platt (dplatt@murthalaw.com) took the loading oar in preparing, the Superfund and Hazardous Waste Committee Newsletter has delved into some technical but timely issues. First, the changing standards for TCE and 1,1 DCE, which threaten to raise concerns at RCRA and CERCLA sites across the country. Second, the applicability of monitored natural attenuation (MNA) to address groundwater contamination, which is an extension of the application of MNA from contaminated soils. Third, whether EPA or OSHA standards apply where there are indoor air quality concerns at RCRA corrective action sites. And, to round out the technical discussions, we have enclosed some thoughts on health risk assessments at Superfund sites.

I sincerely thank David Platt for his significant effort in pulling together this edition of the Newsletter and keeping to issue four newsletters during the ABA year. Looking forward to the next edition, I invite all of you to participate by submitting articles or case summaries to Bruce P. Howard (bruce.howard@lw.com) or to me (Jpollock@sillscummis.com).

Finally, if you have any thoughts, concerns, or recommendations on how to make this Committee work better for you, please call me at 973/643 5251. I look forward to working with you to make this Committee a success.
