2008 Fellowships in Environmental Law
New York
The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources along with the New York State Bar Association, Environmental Law Section and the New York City Bar Association, Committee on Environmental Law, are pleased to announce the 2008 Fellowships in Environmental Law in New York. This program is financially supported by a grant from The New York Community Trust through the American Bar Association.
Fellows receive a $6,000 stipend to spend the summer of 2008 (10 weeks minimum) working on legal matters for a government environmental agency or public interest environmental organization in New York State. The Fellows also receive an invitation to the annual meeting of the New York State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section, participation in monthly dinner meetings of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York's Committee on Environmental Law (held September through June) and assignment of a mentor from the environmental bar.
Past fellowship recipients have worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the state Department of Law, and such environmental organizations such as Environmental Defense and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
- Applications must contain a completed application form; a resume;
- An undergraduate transcript;
- A law school transcript (except for first-year law students);
- A two-page essay describing applicant's interest in environmental issues and reasons for wanting to participate in the Fellowship;
- Two letters of recommendation.
Finalists will be interviewed in New York City.
