2008 Fellowships in Environmental Law

The Fellowship:
• The Fellowship Program is designed to encourage both minority and traditionally underrepresented law students to study and pursue a career in environmental and natural resources law.
• Selected law students will receive a $5000 stipend and will be required to spend the summer of 2008 (8 weeks) working on legal matters for a government environmental agency or a public interest environmental organization in New Mexico.
Eligibility:
• Law students, currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school, who have completed their first or second year, and (1) are permanent New Mexico residents or (2) are non-New Mexico residents with a demonstrated interest in practicing law in New Mexico.
Fellowship Criteria:
• Interest in environmental and natural resource issues (a course in environmental law or natural resources law is not a prerequisite).
• Sound academic record (undergraduate and/or law school).
• Outstanding personal qualities and leadership abilities.

• Applicants must include a letter describing applicant’s interest in environmental and natural resource issues and reasons for wanting to participate in the fellowship program, a current resume with two references, and an undergraduate transcript (1 Ls) or a law school transcript (2 Ls).
