The body of published literature on international environmental law is immense, and grows larger every year. No one can stay abreast of all the books and articles that appear each year and very few would even try. Yet the thought occurred to me in my own research of global environmental issues on behalf of my firm's clients and for the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources Committee on International Environmental Law (IELC) that an effort to compile a limited bibliography of sources from recent years might be worthwhile. With that in mind, and with the assistance of colleagues in my firm and members of the IELC, I compiled a "Select Bibliography of Articles and Books on International Environmental Law (1997-Present)," which appeared at pp. 47-268 of Volume 13 of The Georgetown International Environmental Law Review. Since that time, the Bibliography has grown to over 4,700 citations, and I have placed these references in a searchable electronic database. Although the Bibliography is largely a reflection of my own reading and interests, I hope that fact will not diminish its usefulness to you, and that you will find in it a spark or two of inspiration. I invite you to consider it a foundation that you might build upon and enhance by submitting other citations for inclusion, including references to your own work. In this way the resource may come to serve us all in days ahead.
