Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources

Hydro Power Committee

2009-2010 Committee Chair:

Sonya L. Baskerville, Bonneville Power Administration, Washington, DC

Message from the Chair

The Hydro Power Committee welcomes anyone with an interest in hydro power or renewable electricity generation to join the committee.

As our nation (and the global community generally) begins to work through the challenges of global warming and energy security, hydro power has become a key aspect of potential solutions. The Hydro Power Committee will plan a number of activities to engage the Section, other members of the bar, and the public on the various issues related to hydro power. The committee leadership wants to encourage as much of your participation as possible so that we all have the benefit of hearing the diversity of perspectives within the committee membership.

The committee intends to host quarterly conference calls, brown bags, quick teleconferences, and joint programs with other organizations. If you have subject ideas for any of these types of programs, please feel free to send them to the Chair and the Programs Vice-Chair. The committee also intends to engage in public service and educational outreach activities. Please contact the Public Service Vice-Chairs to become involved in those activities.

Finally, the committee expects to keep the committee webpage up to date with links and other postings related to hydro power. If you have information to submit to the webpage, please contact the Technology Vice-Chair.

We look forward to your participation!

Sonya Baskerville

Committee Resource

Ocean and Coastal Law and Policy Ocean and Coastal Law and Policy

The country's ocean and coastal laws and policies in many ways mirror the very resources they were created to manage, restore, and protect: they are complex, intertwined, and fluid. Newly published by the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, Ocean and Coastal Law and Policy provides an authoritative yet practical resource for practioners, government officials, and scholars to understand and build upon the current legal framework of our ocean and coastal policies.
