Message from the Chair
The Hydro Power Committee’s Chair and Vice Chairs want the Committee to be a primary source of information and service to every ABA member whose practice includes hydropower issues. The About Committee page describes our activities and the various means by which we keep our Committee members up to date on events and developments that affect the hydropower industry. I invite you to take a moment to review these activities and opportunities to learn more about how the Committee can enhance your practice.
We welcome your membership and participation. Indeed, our success depends upon it. As our membership grows, the Committee has more and better opportunities to share information and views on the important issues confronting hydropower practitioners. The Membership area below on this web page shows how to join our Committee and engage in Committee activities.
In addition, your telephone call or e-mail to the Chair or one of the Vice Chairs will inform us of your interests, ideas and suggestions. Please feel free to contact any of the Committee leadership using the contact information appearing in the Leadership area on this web page.
Membership
Joining the Hydro Power Committee is easy! If you are already a member of the Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, you can join five of the Section’s committees at no additional cost. Just complete the Section’s Committee Preference Form and select the Hydro Power Committee.
If you are not yet a member of the Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, please first join the Section. Please review the multiple benefits described on the Section’s Membership page, and then complete the application. Then join our committee.
Once you are a member, we encourage you to engage in the following opportunities.
We are developing a group of individuals from each major river basin or region in the United States who are willing to write or speak, or arrange for writing or speaking, on hydropower issues in the Section’s publications or at the Section’s conferences. This group of regional advisors offers a powerful opportunity to publish and speak. Over time, we hope to develop and make available on this website a library of contributions on hydropower issues. To join these regional advisors, please send an e-mail to our Vice Chairs for Regional Advisors, Nino J. Mascolo and Will Stelle.
If you would like to make a particular contribution to one of the Committee’s or Section’s newsletters, please send an e-mail to our Vice Chair for Newsletters, Jay Hickey.
We will work with Section’s other committees to develop programs for the Section’s annual conferences and for teleconferences. To express your ideas, and how you would like to contribute to them, please contact our Chairman, Jim Hancock.
We are exploring ways to engage in a public service project, such as sponsoring speakers about hydropower at law schools. To express your ideas about public service projects, please send an e-mail to our Vice Chair for Public Service, Bella Sewall.
Our Committee’s web site has a page entitled Links, where we have initiated a list of Internet links about hydropower. To help us develop and expand this list, or if you have other suggestions about how to enhance our Web site please send an e-mail to the Vice Chair for Technology, Bill Kinsey.
We look forward to hearing from you.
