Directory of Law School Dispute Resolution Courses and Programs

A directory of dispute resolution courses at ABA approved law schools is now available online at http://www.law.uoregon.edu/aba/. The 2003 Directory of Law School Dispute Resolution Courses and Programs catalogs the dispute resolution courses, programs and clinics at ABA approved law schools. This 2003 Directory is a joint effort of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and the University of Oregon Law School Appropriate Dispute Resolution Program, and was supported by a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

The Directory lists 887 courses and programs at the 184 ABA approved law schools. All 184 schools listed in the Directory offer at least one dispute resolution course. The most common courses offered at law schools include a dispute resolution survey course, arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. One hundred and forty-one schools offer a dispute resolution survey course. Fifty schools offer a course focused on arbitration. Seventy-nine schools offer a course focused on mediation. Eighty-seven schools offer a course in negotiation.

The 2003 Directory is the sixth edition published by the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and the first edition of the Directory that is available online. The University of Oregon School of Law hosts the Directory on the school’s web site and has made the online Directory searchable so that visitors to the site may conduct searches for particular schools, courses, and programs.
