Committees are organized into Subject Matter Committees, Process Committees and Standing Committees*.
The general mission of the Subject Matter Committees and Process Committees is to 1) monitor and encourage the development of ADR in a specific subject area; 2) provide a community for section members who are interested in the subject area (via participation in the committee list serve and at committee meetings), 3) develop CLE programs, session proposals for the annual spring conference, newsletter articles, committee newsletters, public service projects, and/or publication(s) to assist members and 4) formally liaise with other ABA entities that have a shared subject matter focus. Subject Matter Committees and Process Committees are open to the Section's general membership.
The Standing Committees (as indicated in the drop down menu with an *) act as working groups for specific projects and issues. Membership in Standing Committees is limited to a maximum of ten members and members will be appointed by the Chair of the Section or the Chair's designee. Members interested in appointment to these Standing Committees should forward a statement of interest and resumé to RaShonda Rosier at rosierr@staff.abanet.org.
As an additional convenience, members can now join committees and committee list serves online from specific committee pages on the Section website. Committee list serves are open to all Section members.
A special note to Associate Members: Associate members are able to join any of the subject matter and process committees and/or apply to any of the Standing Committees and will not automatically be added to the Standing Committee on Associate Issues.
