The ABA hosts over 1,900 e-mail lists (both discussion and broadcast distribution). Subscription to the majority of these are a benefit of ABA/Section Membership.
THE BASICS...
To send messages to all of the members of the list, address them to: listname@mail.abanet.orgADVANCED COMMANDS YOU CAN UTILIZE TO COMMUNICATE AND INTERACT WITH THE LIST:For example: sololaw@mail.abanet.org
To cancel your subscription to a discussion list or an "opt-in" broadcast list, send e-mail to listserv@mail.abanet.org with only the following line of text as the body of the message: SIGNOFF listname
For example: SIGNOFF sololaw
If you are a member and wish to cancel your subscriptions to all ABA broadcast type lists, complete the form at http://www.abanet.org/members/join/coa2.html.
By using the link above, you can select one of two restriction codes to be placed on your membership record - No e-mail Marketing or No e-mail Communications.
Please note that these restrictions do not apply to individual mailing lists that you have joined. Please contact the list owner to be removed from those lists if you are not able to use the SIGNOFF command.

The ABANET.ORG List Serve is a software program (actually, several programs forming a system). Here are a summary of the COMMANDS the List Serve recognizes. You may issue any of these commands in the BODY of an E-MAIL message to: listserv@mail.abanet.orgLIST MANAGEMENTRemember, when you send messages using the commands below to the listserv@mail.abanet.org, it is very important to follow the message command structure below to allow the server to properly process your message.
Common Commands
Most commands can be referred to by the first few letters of the command (shown below in all CAPS). Information in italics should be substituted with the proper information. For instance, listname, should be replaced by the actual name of the list.The List Serve understands the following commands:

NOTE: Only commands contained in the BODY of the message will be recognized. Commands in the "Subject:" line are NOT processed.
